Indian Summer

It was a hot summer afternoon that I was inspired to begin this painting. I had spent the day with family and the ”dancing corn” I created on the canvas represented to me the joys of summer when family gathers together to share a meal and laughter.

The roses at Point Defiance were so intense in color and beauty. My younger sister and I drove to Point Defiance to view the flower gardens on a rainy day which turned to a mist and enhanced the colors of all the flowers! We had so much fun that day exploring and were dwarfed by the surrounding [...]

It is fun to paint a painting now and then that is more of a memory combined with fantasy. Silent Dance is such a painting. Many years ago my husband and I used to go ballroom dancing in Seattle. My favorite dance was the waltz and this painting is one of a series that has [...]

Two Colorful boats beached and waiting on a summers’day. Boats had been a part of my life from the time I was a small girl and I loved rowing on the lakes in the area and fishing too.Sometimes we would beach the boat and jump in the water for a swim, days worth remembering.

Laundry blowing from the balcony of the building brings this picture alive. One of my sons requested a painting from a photo taken in Europe and I was so attracted to the colors of the buildings and architecture and the patterns on the laundry. I have always loved laundry blowing on a line.

The Rose Gardens

These gardens were so inviting shrouded in the mist of the early rain. This area was fascinating to visit as you felt as if you had stepped into an impressionist painting. The mist surrounding the plants and the flowers softened the edges of the leaves and yet colors such as reds were illuminated.

My Northwest/The Lake at Mount Rainier

This lake was fascinating with it’s emerald hue and the grasses vibrant with life. All glowed with variations of chartreuse to deep blue-green tones. I was speechless as I walked down by this lake and felt the vibrancy of color all around me. The wildflowers were breathtaking and abundant. It was the end of summer and around 80 degrees [...]

The Mountain

Mount Rainier, snow covered even at summers’ end. It was a nice warm day as we took our drive across the valley. The Mountain ever present, snow covered, was beautiful. As a girl I would look for the mountain in the evening as the sun went down.Of course clouds obscured it much of the time but [...]

Sunlight lit up the wisteria of springtime as the creek meandered by.One morning as I walked out of the front door this is the scene that was in front of me.The air was so refreshing filled with the scent of fir trees mingled with the water from the creek moving along down below.

Brook Near Bothell

The path across the way looked so inviting as we walked beside the brook and explored that day. Earlier in the morning we had sat drinking our coffee in a clearing behind the house watching the brook and listening to bird songs.
